Advanced / Specialized Training

 

Field Training Officer Course

DATES/TIMES:                Monday-Friday / November 3-7, 2014 / 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

LOCATION:                      Marathon Campus 5211

DESCRIPTION:                This 40-hour Advanced Training Course was designed to introduce the criminal justice officer to all aspects of field training and evaluation programs modeled after the San Jose Police Department programs.

TUITION:                          Region XIV Trust Funded.

TO ENROLL:                    Monroe County Deputies, Key West Police Officers, Key Colony Beach Police Officers and SAO Investigators must contact their training divisions. Region XIV Officers have first priority. Region XV State Officers must have a letter of intent to make reciprocal payment on file with this training center prior to admission to training. Sworn Federal Officers may attend on a space available basis. Enrollment is capped at 10 students. For further information please contact the Institute for Public Safety at 305.809.3250.

Instructor Techniques Workshop (ITW) 

DATES/TIMES:                TBD

LOCATION:                       MCSO Training Hanger, Marathon.

DESCRIPTION:                 This is the Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission 64-hour specialized training course required to become a certified Criminal Justice Instructor. Its goal is to introduce the student to the role, responsibilities, skills, knowledge, and expectations of a successful instructor and to enhance the student’s facilitation and instructional abilities.
