Defensive Tactics Instructor Course

 DATES/TIMES:                Monday-Friday / May 5-16, 2014 / 08:00-17:00.

LOCATION:                      MSCO Training Hanger, Marathon

DESCRIPTION:                This 80-hour Specialized Training course is designed to for individuals to become certified Defensive Tactics instructors and to instruct at certified Training Centers and In-service Training.  Attendees should possess a General Instructor Certification or plan on obtaining shortly after this course. 

TUITION:                          Region XIV Trust Funded.

TO ENROLL:                    Monroe County Deputies, Key West Police Officers, Key Colony Beach Police Officers and SAO Investigators must contact their training divisions. Region XIV Officers have first priority. Region XV State Officers must have a letter of intent to make reciprocal payment on file with this training center prior to admission to training. Sworn Federal Officers may attend on a space available basis. Enrollment is capped at 10 students. For further information please contact the Institute for Public Safety at 305.809.3200.

Instructor Techniques Workshop (ITW) 

DATES/TIMES:                Monday-Saturday, July 7th through 12th, 2014 / 07:30-19:30 (Working Lunch). Saturday/ 8:30-12:30.

LOCATION:                       MCSO Training Hanger, Marathon.

DESCRIPTION:                 This is the Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission 64-hour specialized training course required to become a certified Criminal Justice Instructor. Its goal is to introduce the student to the role, responsibilities, skills, knowledge, and expectations of a successful instructor and to enhance the student’s facilitation and instructional abilities.

TUITION:                           Region XIV Trust Funded. 

Enrollment Deadline:      June 1st, 2014.
